Canada consistently ranks among the top destinations for international students, and for good reason. With world-class universities like the University of Toronto, UBC, and McGill, a welcoming multicultural society, and one of the most generous post-study work policies in the world, Canada offers an unbeatable combination. Canadian institutions are known for producing graduates who are highly sought after by employers globally. The emphasis on applied learning, co-op programmes, and industry partnerships means students graduate with real-world experience alongside their degree. The quality of life in Canada is exceptional. Cities like Toronto and Vancouver consistently rank among the most liveable in the world. Healthcare, public safety, and environmental quality are all top-tier. Canada's points-based immigration system also makes it the most straightforward country in the world for students who want to build their future there after graduation. Tuition fees are significantly lower than the US and UK for comparable programmes, and part-time work rights during studies help offset living costs.
Apply for a Study Permit through IRCC online. You'll need an acceptance letter, proof of financial support, and a clean criminal record. Processing times vary by country (2-12 weeks). A Letter of Introduction is issued; the permit itself is given at the border.
Study permit holders can work up to 20 hours/week off-campus during term and full-time during scheduled breaks. After graduation, the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) allows you to work for up to 3 years — and it's a direct pathway to Permanent Residency.
