Global Governance and Sustainable Development

The Graduate Program in Global Governance and Sustainable Development (G2SD) is an interdisciplinary two-year master's program at Tohoku University's Graduate School of International Cultural Studies (GSICS), taught entirely in English. It develops students' ability to advance global governance and sustainable development by combining critical reviews of theory with problem-oriented empirical research on complex, interlinked challenges such as the environment, resources, and international society. A minimum of 30 course units and completion of a master's thesis are required for the degree.

Bachelor's degree or 16 years of school education completed by enrollment (one of 10 eligibility routes); English proficiency test score (TOEFL iBT/ITP, TOEIC, or academic IELTS) for non-native English speakers; research plan and application documents; online interview with oral presentation.
